NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) — TransLink is grappling with a significant drop in ridership as more people stay at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since mid-March, the number of people taking a SeaBus has dropped 90 per cent. The West Coast Express is down 95 per cent, and bus boardings are down 82 per cent.
SeaBus will now be moving to a 30-minute sailing schedule all-day and bus routes with ‘very low ridership’ are being reduced.

As of Wednesday, the West Coast Express train 4, departing from Mission at 6:55 a.m. and Waterfront at 5:30 p.m., will be cancelled.
TransLink also warns that further reductions may become necessary in the near future. It will also be deferring a fare increase set to take effect July 1.
