DELTA (NEWS 1130) — Masks confiscated by Delta Police from people reportedly trying to sell them for a profit appear to be usable and have been donated to a good cause.
The 5,360 masks were given to Operation Protect, a personal protection equipment collection group working with the province.
The 5,360 masks relinquished to Delta police last week were turned over today to Ali Devji of “Operation Protect” a PPE collection project run with the Province. The masks will likely be prioritized to protect fragile seniors. Here our S/Sgt. Dave Schaefer assists. pic.twitter.com/7sgUYJmsQh

Delta police said two people were fined for trying to sell the masks in two different sting operations.
One online ad police found showed someone selling masks for $15 each, and an additional $300 “delivery fee.”
They also found a person who was selling 3,000 surgical masks for $2,200. That seller was also fined $500.
