SURREY (NEWS 1130) – The homicide team has now taken over an investigation in Surrey’s Whalley area.
The Surrey RCMP says officers were called to a residential neighbourhood in the area of 138A Street near 88 Avenue — not far from Bear Creek Park — just after 12:40 a.m. Tuesday for reports of shots being fired.
Surrey RCMP is assisting the @HomicideTeam following a shots fired incident in 8800 block of 139A St that has left one man deceased in the early hours of this morning. Anyone with info asked to contact IHIT tip line or @SolveCrime to remain anonymous.

When they arrived, officers found a male victim who had already died. Mounties have not confirmed who this person is, or if any arrests have been made.
“The initial indications are that this was a targeted shooting,” a release from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team reads. “There are no indications of a continued threat to the public as a result of this incident. This is Surrey’s second homicide of the year.”
