Summary

Metered parking has returned to Vancouver's West End

The move is to encourage people to stay out of Stanley Park during the pandemic

Enforcement of metered parking starts Thursday afternoon

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — In a further bid to keep people out of Stanley Park amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Vancouver is resuming metered parking in the West End, including all permit parking west of Burrard.

“The goal is to enable physical distancing and reduce the number of people congregating on the area’s beaches, the Seawall, and Stanley Park,” says a release from the city.

Instead, the city encourages people to visit parks in their own neighbourhood rather than heading to popular parks and trails around Vancouver.

The city began limiting vehicle access to Stanley Park earlier this week to keep COVID-19 numbers down.

Metered parking will be in full effect Thursday afternoon. Signage is posted to inform drivers of the change.
