Mission fire shuts down main thoroughfare Monday

MISSION (NEWS 1130) — A large fire shut down the main thoroughfare in Mission for hours on Monday.

According to witnesses, a small shop went up in flames at the corner of Horne Street and 1st Avenue.

The fire caused the closure of the westbound lanes of Lougheed Highway, according to the RCMP.

Rescue services blocked 1st Ave., while power was out for about 1,700 BC Hydro customers in the immediate area.

While the fire is out, fire crews will be cleaning up debris overnight.

The RCMP say no one was injured.
