Fire chief says stop setting fires on White Rock beach after crews respond to four calls over the weekend

By

WHITE ROCK (NEWS 1130) — Municipal officials in White Rock are asking parents not to let their kids hang out and set camp-fires down at the beach as the fire chief says crews need to be on stand-by for legitimate emergencies.

The City of White Rock says its fire crews had to put out four separate fires on a single Thursday evening to douse fires left burning on the beach.

In a realse Fire Chief Phil Lemire says, “Firefighters need to keep physically distant from people for their safety.”

The city says by responding to groups setting fires on the beach it is taking resources away from critical matters.
