10-year-old boy in critical condition after colliding with car in Coquitlam

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) — A 10-year-old boy remains in critical condition after being hit by a car Thursday in Coquitlam while riding his bike.

RCMP was called to the intersection of Parkway Boulevard and Forest Ridge Place around 6 p.m.

“Upon our arrival, we located a 10-year-old boy who had been riding his bike and collided with a vehicle resulting in serious injuries. He was rushed to local hospital, where he remains in critical condition,” Staff Sgt. Paul Vadik says in a release.

RCMP originally indicated the boy was seven years old, but has since clarified his age.

The driver stayed at the scene of the collision. Police has ruled out the possibility that the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Investigators are collecting evidence, and police is asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to call 604-945-1550.
