Man arrested after starting up construction crane on Downtown Eastside

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A man was arrested Monday for climbing into the operating booth of a construction crane on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and starting it up.
Vancouver Police Const. Tania Visintin said officers were called to the corner of Dunlevy Avenue and Powell Street, across from Oppenheimer Park, around 5 p.m.
“Vancouver police were able to speak with the man and talk him down,” Visintin added. “He did come down and was taken into custody.”
The crane’s power was pulled before the man could move it, or damage anything.
It’s not clear if or what charges might be recommended.
