‘What does a sun look like when it explodes?’ six-year-old asks Trudeau

OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) — The prime minister is following through with his promise to help children with their homework during this pandemic.

Last week, Justin Trudeau asked parents to tweet their children’s homework problems to him, and his office would try to find an answer.

Six-year-old Emma responded and asked, “What does a sun look like when it explodes?”

Trudeau asked Minister of Transportation and former Astronaut Marc Garneau for his thoughts.

“One day, billions of years from now, when it’s used up all its fuel, it’s going to get bigger and bigger and bigger in which would call a ‘red giant,’ and billions of years later, it’s going to shrink down again in to what we call a ‘white dwarf,’ it’ll be about the size of the Earth,” Garneau says.

And it looks like more than just kids are learning something from this.

Trudeau says if your kids have a difficult question your kid wants to ask, reply to his tweet or use the hashtag #CanadaHomeworkHelp, and he will try to get back to you.

“After all, the way we’re gonna get through this is by pulling together,” Trudeau says.
