Locals pay tribute to Snowbirds Captain Jennifer Casey in various ways

David Zura is in Kamloops speaking to witnesses in the neighbourhood where the accident happened and a community mobilizing to remember Capt. Jenn Casey.

KAMLOOPS (NEWS 1130) — As the memorial for Snowbirds Captain Jennifer Casey keeps growing — there’s a push for a more permanent way to pay tribute.

A petition is circulating, calling on the City of Kamloops to change the name of Airport Road to ‘Captain Jennifer Casey Memorial Way.’

“It’s fantastic that there’s so much support. It’s nice that it’s really took off. What better way to commemorate that lost member of the team than to name Airport Road after her,” petition organizer Giancarlo Briglio says.

Every day since the crash, a woman from Kamloops has visited the crash site to play her violin and pay her respects.

“It touched my heart to see the people pouring out lots of love in here,” Evalentine Wright says. “I don’t play for myself or to be known. I just come here and pay respect … and give thanks.”

Sundays Snowbird crashing in Kamloops has still left debris from the incident, which is littered across the neighbourhood.

The accident killed Captain Jennifer Casey and left Captain Richard McDougal and hospital, where he continues to recover.
