Summary

John Horgan did his part to help tired parents amid the COVID-19 pandemic by reading bedtime stories to kids online

The premier read Yertle the Turtle by Dr. Seuss, one of his 'all-time favourite bedtime stories'

Horgan did this as part of a video series launched by a Victoria city councillor who wanted to give parents a break

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) – Premier John Horgan took to Facebook Tuesday evening with a new message.

No, he didn’t put out a political statement. The premier took a few moments off from his usual duties to help give parents a little break by reading their kids a bedtime story, virtually.

“I’m king of the butterflies, king of the air! Ah, me! What a throne! What a wonderful chair!” Horgan read from his book of choice, Yertle the Turtle by Dr. Seuss, one of his “all-time favourite bedtime stories.”

Horgan’s video was part of an initiative spearheaded by Victoria City Councillor Charlayne Thornton-Joe.

The series of videos, which feature elected officials reading bedtime stories of their choosing, was launched back in April.

“As BC families have been staying home more, there might be parents who want a bit of a break in the evening. So please feel free to share with your kids – or fellow parents,” Horgan writes.

It happens every day at 8:00 p.m., with a number of officials already having taken part.
