WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) — Organizers of RBC’s GranFondo Whistler have cancelled this year’s event because of the pandemic.
They say the bike races would only work once mass gatherings are allowed again, and they don’t think that’ll happen in time.
The event was set to happen from Sept. 9 to 13.
Another big event is cancelled this year: @rbcgranfondo says it’s cancelling their September bike races b/c organizers believe events and mass gatherings won’t likely be allowed by then. They hope to hold the event next year.

Organizers say they hope to come back next year.
“We are incredibly disappointed with this outcome, although we know it is the correct decision. Our team works tirelessly year round to host this event, and we love bringing you this amazing experience and showcasing the beauty of British Columbia,” reads a release.
Registered riders will be getting an email with more information.
Large gatherings won’t be permitted until B.C. enters into the fourth phase of its reopening plan. Currently, the province is only in the second phase.
