Two ‘unexpected’ deaths on Salt Spring Island being investigated by Major Crimes Unit

SALT SPRING ISLAND (NEWS 1130) — The Vancouver Island Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death of two people Monday on Salt Spring Island.
Salt Spring RCMP were called to a home on Fulford Ganges Road around 5 p.m. on Monday and found the body of a 48-year-old man, along with a 41-year-old woman who was suffering from serious injuries and later passed away.
A “significant incident” is being investigated on Salt Spring Island, and Vancouver Island Major Crimes Unit is involved, said Cpl. Chris Manseau, B.C. RCMP.

There’s no motive at this point and police say the public is not at risk, he added.
The BC Coroners Service is investigating to how the two people “came to their unexpected deaths.”
