VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Uber Eats has released statistics reflecting how “generous” Canadians have been during the pandemic.

Uber Eats has come up with the top ten best ‘tipping’ Canadian cities. Vancouver ranks 7th, but Victoria is 2nd behind only Quebec City.

“During these difficult times, delivery people are on the front lines keeping our communities running and getting food to those staying home. New data shows that despite these challenging times, people are being more generous than ever as the average tip on Uber Eats orders has increased more than 55% since the week of March 9,” the release reads.

Uber Eats is also reporting Canadians are more likely to leave bigger tips on Fridays and Saturdays for drivers.

“Tips are significantly higher around early dinner time with orders placed between 5-6 pm receiving nearly 33% higher tips than the daily average.”

Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart has recently called out food delivery apps for charging too high a commission on some struggling restaurants.
