NEW YORK – The NHL has circled July 10 for the opening of Phase 3 of its return-to-play protocol, according to Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.
The third phase of the league’s four-step plan to resume the 2019-20 campaign will mark the opening of training camps.

Johnston notes that the proposed date must still be agreed upon by the NHL Players’ Association.
The NHL opened Phase 2 on Monday, giving clubs the go-ahead to open practice facilities at their own discretion and offer small-group on- and off-ice training sessions for players.
