PNE hosting CAR-B-Q until Father’s Day

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — After the smash-success of the mini-doughnut drive-thru, the PNE is offering up another way to enjoy some fair food this weekend.

Organizers call it a “CAR-B-Q,” offering a smoky, saucy meal from one of the PNE’s barbecue vendors, along with a classic and custom car show.

It started Thursday and runs through Father’s Day, Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

Those interested can pre-purchase a ticket on the fair’s website, then pick up meals at the drive-thru at Gate Six.

Orders also include two free tickets for when the fair reopens next year.

Last month, a mini donut drive-thru at the PNE was so popular it was extended for another day.

PNE spokesperson Laura Ballance then that many concessionaires are multi-generational fair families and make their living on the fair and event circuit.

“With COVID most of them, if not all of them, have lost what we believe to be most if not all of their 2020 year,” she said.
