Large house fire in Surrey displaces seven people

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — A large house fire in Surrey has destroyed a home and displaced seven people.

The fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. in the area of 103 Ave and 132 St and completely engulfed the home.

According to Ben Dirksen, Assistant Chief for Surrey Fire the huge fire was difficult to put out.

“Our first arriving crews were faced with heavy fire conditions. They immediately raised it to a second alarm, so in the end, we have 19 firefighters on scene.”

He says it’s still not clear what exactly caused the fire and the investigation is ongoing.

Dirksen says he is not aware of anyone transported to the hospital but says there are no significant injuries to report.
