High-risk sex offender to live in Vancouver: police

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — The Vancouver Police Department is warning the public about a convicted sex offender who will be living in the city and is a high risk to re-offend.

Howard Geddes Skelding poses a significant risk to women in the community, according to police.

Skelding just completed a two-year sentence for sexual assault and indecent acts.

The police department believes he is a high risk to re-offend, “both violently and sexually, particularly if he is using drugs.”

Skelding, 28, is 5’8”, 160 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. He has a scar above his right eye.

Skelding is on probation for the next three years and must comply with conditions of his release:

  • he cannot possess weapons as defined by the Criminal Code of Canada, including all types of firearms, ammunition, explosives or knives;
  • he must attend, participate and complete all counselling, programming and treatment as directed by the probation officer;
  • and he must completely abstain from consuming alcohol and non-prescription medications.

Anyone witnessing Skelding in violation of any of the conditions is asked to call 9-1-1.
