PORT COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) — Be extra careful around Lower Mainland streams and low lying areas along the Fraser River.
The B.C. River Forecast Centre has issued a high streamflow advisory because water levels are rising rapidly.
Minor flooding is also expected in some areas in the days ahead.
The City of Port Coquitlam is closely watching the weather forecasts to see if homes and businesses should take steps to prepare.
“The public is advised to stay clear of fast-flowing watercourses and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high-stream flow period,” the release reads.
