VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) — Thirteen new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in B.C. Friday, but there haven’t been any new deaths over the last day.

Provincial health officials say six previous confirmed cases have been removed from the total number since they were residents of another province, bringing the total to 2,947 cases.

In a joint release, Health Minister Adrix Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry say there aren’t any new outbreak in healthcare facilities, and confirm the outbreak at Langley Lodge is now over.

The lodge experienced multiple outbreaks, which resulted in 25 deaths — the most at any one site in the province during the pandemic.

“In total, three long-term care or assisted-living facilities and one acute-care facility have active outbreaks,” Dix and Henry say.

No new community outbreaks have occurred either.

There are currently 162 active cases of the virus, with 19 people in hospital and two in the ICU.

As always, Dix and Henry encourage British Columbians to continue following public health regulations and show compassion for each other.

“Remember that we don’t know everyone’s story and we are all working hard to stay safe. Be gracious, be respectful and kind. Together, our actions have flattened the curve and together we can get through this by staying 100 per cent committed to our efforts.”

So far, 2,608 people in B.C. have fully recovered from the coronavirus.

With no new deaths, the numbers remains at 177 in the province.
