Charges laid in New Year's fire in Tsawwassen that destroyed building

TSAWWASSEN (NEWS 1130) – A man has been charged with arson after a professional building in Delta was destroyed by a fire on New Year’s Day.

The building on 12th Avenue had housed two dental clinics as well as a music school, and the building was completely destroyed in the fire.

The Delta Fire Department was called to that location at around 4 a.m. on Jan 1. for calls on a massive fire that was not fully extinguished until the next day.

Daniel Hacking, from Delta, has been charged with one count of break and enter and one count of arson damaging property.

He has since been released on several conditions which include remaining under house arrest, and he’s not allowed to purchase any incendiary devices.

Hacking will appear in court on Aug. 7, 2020
