Richmond standoff ends with arrest

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – An hours-long standoff in Richmond has come to an end.

Mounties say a person has been taken into custody after officers were called to the Hamilton area Thursday for reports of a man with a gun.

The RCMP received the report just after 5:00 p.m. in the area of Gilley Road and Westminster Highway.

“Upon further investigation, the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team was requested to attend,” the RCMP says in a release.

The standoff forced the lockdown of a townhouse complex in the area, but the Richmond RCMP says the incident was brought to a “successful conclusion” Friday, around 6:00 a.m.

Gilley Road, which had been shut down since Thursday evening, has since reopened.
