TORONTO (680 NEWS) — A 36-year-old mother is facing several charges including attempted murder after two children were stabbed in the north end of the city.

Police say they were called to a building in the Weston Road and Finch Avenue West area around 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

They discovered a 6-month-old baby girl and a 4-year-old boy suffering from serious injuries.

The pair were transported to a trauma centre, where their condition has since stablized. Police say they are expected to recover.

“Having young children myself, I couldn’t imagine that type of trauma and injury,” Const. Alex Li told reporters on scene.

Police say the woman in custody faces two charges of aggravated assault and two charges of attempted murder.

Details as to what may have led up to the incident have not been released.
