Surrey RCMP arrest man in connection to sexual assault, robbery in Whalley

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a sexual assault and robbery near King George SkyTrain station, which occurred about two weeks ago.

On July 10, a woman walking under the Expo line toward Fraser Highway was approached by an unknown man with a weapon.

“The male robbed the woman of her personal belongings, then pulled her into the bushes and sexually assaulted her,” a release from the Surrey RCMP reads.

On Friday, Mounties reported a man has taken into custody, but charges have not yet gone through court.

The name of the suspect has not been released.

At the time of the assault, the woman sustained minor injuries and was able to call for help after the man fled the area.
