Langley boy, 7, back with father after alleged abduction by mother

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) — A seven-year-old boy is back home after his mother failed to return him to the custody of his father, according to Langley RCMP.

On July 18, police was advised the boy had not been returned to his father as planned that morning. Officers then determined they were investigating a parental abduction.

It took them a week to track down the boy and his mom to a home in Abbotsford, where officers from Langley RCMP and city police tried to arrest the woman and apprehend the boy.

However, “Police encountered significant resistance from a male occupant in the residence elevating the risk factors for all involved. Police took appropriate actions to defuse the situation and reduce the risk to the young boy and everyone involved,” says a release from RCMP.

An emergency response team was eventually brought in and, after warrants were obtained, the 47-year-old woman and her 49-year-old boyfriend were arrested two days later.

RCMP says the child was never in danger during the operation.

“He was very happy to be reunited with his father,” says RCMP.
