Guests flock to PNE during BC Day despite restrictions

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — It’s usually a crowd pleaser each BC Day long weekend, but the PNE sees crowds cut down thanks to the pandemic.

The PNE opened for a “modified park” experience, with a number of new rules in effect.

But it seems most people are still able to enjoy the sights and sounds and generally follow the rules that include wearing masks while in line and on rides.

“We opened up with a limited opening, about four weeks ago where we had mostly our kids and family rides. This weekend we expanded with some of our thrill rides and the response has been fantastic,” Roxann Bury is with the PNE says.

Staff are also upping the number of cleanings to help stop the spread of COVID19.

Rides that have reopened this long weekend, including the Revelation, the West Coast Wheel and the iconic wooden roller coaster.
