11-year-old philanthropist makes Surrey’s 25 under 25 list, after raising $17,000 for sick kids

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — An 11-year-old Colebrook Elementary student named Sia Sidhu has just become Surrey’s youngest winner of the Surrey Board of Trade’s Top 25 Under 25 Awards.

Sidhu hosts annual summer fundraising events, including lemonade stands, hot dog cookouts, and her latest endeavour — a Burger Shack.

“Last year, she hosted ‘Sia’s burger shack’ at her home in Surrey to raise money for neuromuscular disease, a condition that two of her cousins suffer from. Her efforts raised a remarkable $9,200 for BC Children’s Hospital,” a Facebook post from the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation reads.
