Cyclist dies after colliding with SUV in Pitt Meadows

PITT MEADOWS (NEWS 1130 ) — A 39-year-old cyclist from Maple Ridge died after colliding with an SUV late Tuesday on a rural road in Pitt Meadows.
Around 9:45 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP officers responded to a call about an unconscious cyclist on Neaves Road.
The cyclist had exited a trail onto the road and collided with a black Ford Flex.

The cyclist died at the scene, according to police, despite the efforts of an off-duty paramedic, who attempted life-saving measures.
The driver, a 24-year-old Coquitlam man, remained at the site of the collision and is cooperating with police.
“Impaired driving is not believed to be a factor in the cause of this collision and criminal charges are not being considered at this time,” says a release from RCMP.
