Hot July for Vancouver area home sales

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Home sales around the Vancouver area continue to bounce back.

Sales were up 28 per cent in July compared to June, topping the 10-year average for the month, according to the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, which says they totalled 3,128 more than the previous month this year.

Year over year, sales were 22 per cent higher in July, 2020, than they were the same month in 2019.

“We’re seeing the results today of pent up activity, from both home buyers and sellers,” Board chair Colette Gerber says.

The post-COVID-19-lockdown surge of owners putting their homes on the market continued in July, with new listings up 2.8 per cent from June.

Meanwhile, the group’s adjusted price for an apartment-style condo last month was $682,500, up 4.2 per cent from a year earlier and 3-10ths of a per cent from June. Single-detached house prices rose 5 per cent to to $1.5 million.
