BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — A staff member at Burnaby’s New Vista Care Home has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to the Fraser Health Authority.

The health authority is confirming a rapid response team is at the long term care home and crews are working with care home staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed.

“During this time, Fraser Health has additional presence at the site to take any further actions required and support the facility. This includes dedicated people to address quality, answer questions from staff, residents and family, and provide active checks of symptoms with staff and residents,” a release reads.

The outbreak is limited to one unit of the building and the staff member is currently self-isolating at their home.

The long-term care centre is a facility operated by New Vista Care Society.
