Possible COVID-19 exposure at Saje and Bell Mobility in CF Pacific Centre

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A pair of stores in the CF Pacific Centre have reports of possible COVID-19 exposures.

Cadillac Fairview tells NEWS 1130 Saje and Bell Mobility have reported COVID-19 infections linked to their stores.

Both stores have contacted Vancouver Coastal Health, but there has been no formal advisory from the health authority.

“At this point in time there is no further action required and the building can remain open for business,” a statement from CF reads.

On Tuesday, Saje temporarily closed their Pacific Centre location, “Due to a confirmed case of COVID-19 with one of our employees, who is now at home in self-quarantine.”

“The exposure is suspected to have occurred outside of work, but we have closed the store as a preventative measure to ensure the safety of our employees and customers, and are following the advice of health authorities to safely re-open this store location in the very near future,” Saje says in a statement to NEWS 1130.

Meanwhile, the Bell Mobility employee who was confirmed to have COVID-19 had not been at work for “several days” before their positive test, the company says in a statement.

Bell adds the employee “had not been in close contact with customers or other employees,” and that “we notified the mall of the situation as a precautionary measure.”

The emailed statement adds Bell has a number of protection measures in place at its stores, including barriers, physical distancing requirements, mandatory masks, and enhanced cleaning protocols.

The rest of the Pacific Centre is operating as usual.
