BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — A body has been found in a homeless encampment in Burnaby’s Central Park, though at this point, RCMP have not called in the homicide team.
Mounties received inital reports around 9 p.m. Friday night, and the body was located around 10 a.m. the next morning with the help of a police dog.
Corporal Brett Cunningham says they’re still trying to identify the body.
“Given the bodies decomposed, they’re [BC Coroners Service and RCMP] still looking into the cause of death,” he says.
Cunningham adds there is no risk to public safety.
