Five-year-old boy killed by falling tree branch in Chilliwack

Chilliwack RCMP responded to a call around 12:45 p.m. on the Kingfisher Trail near Yarrow Tuesday and when Mounties arrived, they found a five-year-old boy who died due to his injuries.
A 22-year-old woman with non-life-threatening injuries was transported to hospital.

“This group was local to the Chilliwack area and consisted of children being supervised on a day hike along the trail,” RCMP Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson said in a release. “RCMP Victim Services is engaged with the families of the group and child.”
The RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating.
