Vancouver parking stall on the market for $50,000

Finally! A way to get your foot in the door of the Vancouver housing market. Kier Junos reports on the $50,000 parking stall that already has people asking.

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Finding a place to park in Vancouver can be difficult, but if you can come up with $50,000, you could have it easy with a private spot in Yaletown.

Stall 77 at 1200 Pacific Blvd. is a freehold strata parking spot, a block away from the Yaletown Marina. It has its own title, assessment, property ID and property taxes, which total $279.52 per year.

“It’s only $50,000 and it’s treated like an apartment. You can rent it to anybody you want for profit, you can use it for yourself if you come downtown shopping,” realtor Michael Mihaylov tells CityNews.

The parking sport is 11 feet wide and 20 feet deep and according to Mihaylov it is calculated to be about $228 per square foot.

“Which makes it the cheapest property downtown,” he says.

Mihaylov has already fielded four calls about the stall, which he describes as a rare opportunity.

But this parking spot is not the only one for sale in Vancouver. Another one, at 1480 Howe St., is selling for $100,000.

While it isn’t common to sell parking stalls with actual property titles, realtor David Hutchinson says it’s part of a recent trend.

“Parking stalls are still a premium. As the city has less parking, they become even more of a premium,” he says.

Mihaylov adds the only thing that’s missing from stall 77 is an electric car charger, which you’d have to pay to have installed.
