EDMONTON (NEWS 1130) — The Vancouver Canucks have defeated the Vegas Golden Knights, shutting them out 4-0.

Thursday’s game featured another standout performance from rookie goalie Thatcher Demko, who stopped all 48 of the opposition’s shots.

Demko got his first series start in Game 5 when Jacob Markstom was deemed unfit to play.

The 24-year-old from San Diego stymied the Golden Knights with a series of spectacular saves and helped the Canucks withstand a flurry of shots with a 1-0 lead late in the first period into the second.

Demko has stopped 90 of 91 shots in two starts.

J.T. Miller had a goal and an assist, Jake Virtanen also scored and Bo Horvat added an empty-net goal with 4 1/2 minutes left.

Vancouver’s victory means the two teams will face off for a final game Friday AT 6 P.M. (PST)

The winner of Friday’s game will advance to the Western Conference final.

Fans hit the street at the intersection of Scott Road and 72nd  Avenue in Delta to celebrate.
