Employee at Surrey long-term care facility tests positive for COVID-19

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — The latest care home in B.C. to record at least one case of COVID-19 is Surrey’s Cherington Place.
Fraser Health has confirmed a staff member who tested positive is isolating at home.

The long-term care facility, owned and managed by Belvedere Seniors Living, is one of nine outbreaks at long-term care or assisted-living facilities. There are also outbreaks at two acute-care wards. All these locations are in the Fraser Health region.
The outbreak at Langley Memorial Hospital was declared over Wednesday.

The health authority is working to identify anyone who may have been exposed to the infected person while enhanced control measures are being implemented at Cherington.
“During this time, Fraser Health has additional presence at the site to take any further actions required and support the facility,” the health authority says in a release.
