VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Kids at Sexsmith Elementary in South Vancouver were kept locked inside their school Tuesday afternoon after a dramatic police incident unfolded nearby.
Police were called to Manitoba Street and West 59th after getting several 911 calls about two men armed with guns, who were spotted sitting in a parked car.
“As police arrived on the scene, the suspects attempted to flee by ramming their vehicle into police vehicles and civilian vehicles before colliding with a tree.
Both suspects were apprehended — one with the help of a police dog.
However, the school had to be locked down for some time.
“Out of an abundance of caution, officers asked officials at a nearby school to hold children at school briefly until the situation was resolved.”
The investigation is ongoing, but the two are facing charges.
