Another violent night in Metro Vancouver sends man in Surrey to hospital after targeted shooting

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — It’s been another violent night in Metro Vancouver.

Surrey RCMP say a man is in the hospital after being shot in the Campbell Heights neighborhood Thursday night. Officers had been called to the area near 194 Street and 34 Avenue after getting multiple calls about gunfire and arrived to find the man with gunshot wounds.

The shooting came barely 24 hours after Vancouver saw three murders. No arrests have been made in any of the incidents so far.

The shooting in Surrey was not random according to Mounties, who say it appears the man was targeted. The intersection of 194 Street and 34 Avenue was closed for several hours overnight as police canvassed the area and spoke to witnesses.

On Wednesday night, two people were found “unresponsive in a room” at the Astoria Hotel along East Hastings just before 7:30 p.m. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other died at the hospital.

Less than an hour later that same night, police were called to the area of 64th Avenue and Knight Street after receiving multiple calls about shots being fired. Officers arrived to find a person dead in front of a home.
