MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS 1130) — Students in two Maple Ridge elementary schools had been kept in class Thursday afternoon because of a police situation near them.

Eric Langdon and St. Patrick’s schools were impacted and parents weren’t able to pick up their kids for a short time. That hold has been lifted, but parents are asked to pick up their children then leave the area.

A police dog had been helping with a search of the area a few blocks away from Reg Franklin Park, near 121st Avenue and 227th Street, according to police.

Mounties had asked people to avoid the area during their investigation.
