VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A pair of concerning incidents involving men following women in the Mount Pleasant area has the Vancouver Police investigating.

Const. Tania Visintin says in one case, a woman was walking near Main Street and 5th Avenue when a man in a silver vehicle asked to make a phone call for her.

In another case, a woman walking her dog told police two men were following her, and their behaviour is being described as suspicious.

VPD Constable Tania Visintin wants residents in the area to stay alert.

“That’s to start. Not to say that it can’t escalate, and it might escalate,” she says. “We don’t want to instill fear, but we want people to remain vigilant and your gut is the best indicator of something going wrong.”

The man in the vehicle is described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, with a slim build.

Visintin says the VPD’s sex crimes unit is also looking into this.

“And of course, our officers will remain in the area looking for possible suspects looking for the description given by those victims.”
