Burnaby man charged with possession, distribution of child pornography

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — A 37-year-old Burnaby man has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

The charges against Michael Grondine, also known as ‘Michael Grondines,’ followed a three-year investigation by Burnaby RCMP’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Unit.

In September 2017, the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children contact RCMP about images and videos of child sexual abuse, had been uploaded by a person in Burnaby.

In 2018 and 2019, police investigated a number of similar reports allegedly linked to the same person, according to a release from RCMP.

Officers then identified a suspect living at a Burnaby home and executed warrants, seizing a number of electronic devices.

The B.C. Prosecution Service approved charges last month.

Grondine, 37, was arrested and has since been released, with numerous conditions, according to RCMP.

Conditions include him having no contact with individuals younger than 18 and not to frequent areas where young people are known to congregate, such as school grounds and playgrounds.
