VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Police are looking for whoever may be responsible for heavily spray painting several SkyTrain cars on the Millennium Line Saturday.
Images of the large-scale tagging, shared on Reddit with the title “New paint job looks unique!”, show train cars almost fully sprayed from top to bottom.
“After our officers did take photos of the graffiti, it [the train] was taken out of service. It has since been cleaned and placed back into service,” Metro Vancouver Transit Police Cst. Mike Yake says, adding the cars didn’t appear to be damaged on the inside.
Well, this will likely be an expensive cleanup…

“Unfortunately, these situations do happen but we haven’t come across a train that’s been painted to this extent in a very long time,” he says.
Police say the graffiti likely happened between 7 p.m. and midnight on Saturday. Investigators will be reviewing surveillance footage to see if they can find the taggers. It’s unclear if the graffiti was done by one person or more.
The suspects face possible fines of mischief, which can come with a fine of up to $5,000 or even 10 years in jail if the damage is severe.
Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who may have information about this graffiti, or anyone who may have seen these tags elsewhere before to contact them.
