MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS 1130) — Four people have been arrested after a woman was forcibly confined at a house in Maple Ridge, according to RCMP.
The incident involved weapons, police said, and forced the closure of Lougheed Highway on Wednesday.
Two men and two women were arrested on scene without incident and are being held in police custody.
Officers were on patrol when one noticed a woman in distress. She claimed to have been held at a nearby house without her consent.
RCMP closed the highway between Laity and 216th streets, while a police helicopter and dog team were called to assist.
***Update*** lougheed highway is reopened in both directions. Thanks for your patience. Further information to follow tomorrow.

“For this reason, particularly in a case where there is alleged forcible confinement and weapons, it is all hands on deck as it is easier for police to scale back a response after an initial scene assessment,” Const. Julie Klaussner says in a release.
Officers were able to call out four people from the residence.
Officers also secured a warrant to search the house.
Witnesses are also being sought. Anyone with information or dash-camera footage from 1 to 4 p.m. is asked to contact RCMP at 604-463-6251 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
