BC Ferries sailings impacted by mechanical issue

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) — A BC Ferry is out of service after a mechanical issue and sailings between Tsawwassen and Duke Point have been severely impacted.

A key propellor on the Queen of Alberni has been damaged and sailings have been cancelled until the damage can be fixed.

Deborah Marshall with BC Ferries explains what passengers hoping to sail the route may be dealing delays for the next few days.

“We’ll definitely continue to have one vessel on the run, but it might just be you know 50 per cent of the normal payments that we would normally have.”

If you’re planning a trip between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland, Marshall is suggesting you consider using Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay ferry over the next few days.
