SURREY (NEWS 1130) — Charges have been approved against two men linked to a murder in Surrey’s Clayton Heights last year.

Police say 29-year-old Kristijan Coric was the victim of a targeted shooting when he was sitting in his car at a Mobil service station around 6 p.m. Sept. 28.

“The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the case and after a year of tireless work by investigators, charges have now been laid in the case,” a release from IHIT reads.

One count of first-degree murder has been laid against 25-year-old Carlos Nathaniel Monteith.

Charged with being an accessory after the fact is 32-year-old Trion Demario Castello.

IHIT investigators say Monteith was already in custody for an unrelated matter and Castello was arrested Friday.

Despite the charges made against Nathaniel and Castello, IHIT says the investigation is still ongoing.

“We believe there may be others complicit in Coric’s murder and we will continue to investigate until everyone involved in this crime is held to account.”
