In light of rising covid cases in BC, Chilliwack Minor Hockey Association has paused their season

The association president says this comes after much deliberation, it is up to the league to do their part

CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) — As COVID-19 cases rise in the Fraser Health region, the Chilliwack Minor Hockey Association has decided to pause its season until further notice.

The president of the association president Lee McCaw says the board of directors didn’t make the decision lightly — but the rise in cases threatens the safety of players, staff and families.

“Depending on how the Chilliwack outbreak evolves over the next 7-10 days or potentially longer we will remain on a break,” a statement from the association reads.

This comes a day after B.C. reported the highest increase in new COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
