VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Power is back on for about 62,000 customers in Vancouver who were impacted by a sub-station issue Wednesday morning.
The outages impacted people in the Kitsilano, Arbutus, Shaughnessy, Kerrisdale, Dunbar, and Mount Pleasant areas for close to an hour.
“It’s customers that are provided power out of our Sperling Sub-station on Arbutus Street,” Mora Scott with BC Hydro told NEWS 1130 around 9:30 a.m.

Scott said crews were working to figure out the exact cause of the outage, but noted the focus was on trying to restore power to the thousands of people affected first.
Street lights at major arteries and in between were also affected by the outages, including along Broadway east to Main Street.
