RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) — An impaired driver in Richmond backed right into an unmarked police car while Mounties were trying to do some undercover work last Thursday.
When the drunk driver hit one of the force’s vehicles, police issued the black sedan driver a ticket for failing to remain on scene.
“The incident highlights the versatility and different enforcement roles demanded of a police officer,” Constable Kenneth Lau says in a release. “Despite initially doing unrelated enforcement, thanks to the quick actions of Richmond RCMP Strike Force, an impaired driver was taken off the road, potentially saving lives.”

The driver is prohibited from driving for 90 days, and his vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.
Richmond RCMP is also reminding everyone that if you are planning on drinking, “please do not drive.”
Mounties recommend you find an alternative way home such as transit, cabs, or a designated driver so you and the people sharing the road can reach their destination safely.
