‘Suspicious activity’ on BC Legislature servers remains under investigation

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) — “Suspicious activity” on some of the servers at the BC Legislature prompted the office to take its network and website offline last Tuesday.

According to a statement posted on Twitter Thursday, the move was made out of an “abundance of caution” and as a result of “unauthorized access to a small number of servers.”

“At this time there is no evidence of unauthorized access to or loss of Legislative Assembly or personal data as a result of this incident,” the statement said.

An investigation is ongoing, and further details about when services will come back online “will be provided in the coming days.”
