PORT COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) — Mounties believe it was a targeted shooting that left a man with gunshot wounds near a busy industrial road in Port Coquitlam Monday morning.

Coquitlam RCMP were first called out at 9:34 a.m. and had kept Broadway Street shut down from the Mary Hill Bypass to Industrial Avenue.

A black vehicle was seen driving away from the scene heading north on Broadway. Investigators are asking drivers who were in the area around the time of the shooting to check their dashcam footage to see if the vehicle shows up.

Police say there weren’t any other injuries but didn’t provide any more details about the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550, or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

One caller to NEWS 1130, Christine, works in a building on Broadway and says police flooded the area.

“Screaming down the industrial complex that we work in, followed by a whole bunch of sirens and someone on a stretcher. But we heard a rapid, 10 bangs in a row,” she says.
